"It Is What It Is"/They Loving The Crew! {Divine Ladies 2nd Line}

On Sunday, May 20, 2012, I woke up around 6am (Central Standard Time)...yawned...thank God for waking me up because it "Divine Day". My club members were slowly waking up from there sleep & realizing that "Divine Day" is upon us...Let's go!

One year earlier, we (my mom/sister & myself) was just saying what are we going to do to top this [2011] year after the 2nd line.  Last year's theme was "Strutting Like a Peacock: Don't Hate Us Because We're Beautiful" & they were just like the theme...beautiful. Those turquoise & ivory, one shoulder jumpers & those rich turquoise fans looked ever so lovely in the late spring day. The ladies always had peacock jewelry to "set off" their theme & outfits, a first for a female 2nd line club.

The entire year was tough for not only the club, but for each of the ladies. Shawan "Queen" Gracin's sister passed away from battling breast cancer & Sheketa Baptiste's father died of lung cancer. Being in a loyal club, we were there for each one of those ladies. As being a member of Divine Ladies, we are not just a club, we are more like a family...we stick together no matter what.  

Picking colors & clothes are always the hardest thing to do. You don't want to repeat any colors that you've done before. My mom & I originally came up with all shades of pink...then that plan failed. We came up with an outfit with a beautiful paisley print...that plan failed also. We was always in March & we didn't have an idea what they're wearing.  Angie (my mom) came up with the "pastel rainbow" concept. My 1st thought of that concept was "I am sick of seeing that" but time wasn't on our side. So,  she decided to do the "rainbow" concept. I picked who was wearing what color. I think I did pretty good at matching everyone with a beautiful color. We ordered jewelry, custom exotic skin shoes, & hats. All we had to do is wait until everything arrive.

The few days before the 2nd line are always nerve wrecking & exciting all at once...making sure everything is paid, making sure you have the right quantity of items for each member, & our hotel for our "Divine Slumber Party" is reserved.  The Friday before the 2nd line, we went to our King's Party. It was...a party, that's all I am going to say about that...

{2nd Line Time!}

Saturday was the day for "Finalizing Day"...we picking our overnight bags & checking in our hotel. I didn't have to go to the hair salon (lol) so I was already for the slumber party. The slumber party was pretty chill because we just talked & getting for Sunday ["Divine Day"].  

"Divine Day" was here! Thank you, God! Myself, my mom, & some of the club members wake up to get some breakfast. We (including myself) were excited. I am the only one in the club that don't 2nd line...but it's still a rush to see my mom & my vision coming to reality.
